CAS activity - Yr. 7 Art I

Today I helped out with the year 7 art class along with ms Indah. I offered to help out ms Jeanie with her year 7 class since I caught that one boy, (doing something inappropriate), and I could also see that with this certain year 7 group (who took art) overwhelmed her. So ms Jeanie and I went over my school schedule and picked the best times I could come over and help, since I got a lot of free periods. It was a little mad today with the kids. I believe that they still thought they were in primary because they still more or less acted like they were.

Catherine, Dennis and I had a free period in the morning, I don't do TOK and the others had a free period, we picked that time for an extra art lesson since we are all in HL art. So we went to class and did our work finishing up assignments and doing some experiments. I did some watercolor work and played around with it using different techniques. Soon later it was second period, as the year 7s started coming in. Mr yosi was the cover teacher and told the kids what his techniques he uses when he is teaching art class, as (he read the paper in his hand) he introduced me to the year 7s. Mr Yosi seemed pleased that I was there to help out, since he had to do his own work, The year 7s didn't know how to react since I am in year 11, and that I was in their class helping out. I knew some of the year 7s from around the school, or from the primary or even friends' of mine siblings. It was interesting of how the year 7s did work in art it was a mad house, but at least I knew how to do one-point perspective so I helped out the kids with the lining up. This one boy was on his own because he was known for as a troublemaker in class, then again there is always one in every class. So I kept a close eye on him in particular as with some of my friend's siblings and others I knew from primary. I also took watch of the others who I didn't know and tried to get to know them by helping them out with their work.

At one point the kids weren't doing their work so I helped them out with some of the kids because they didn't know how to use the triangle. It was tough for them but I told them This is one of the easier assignments to do in art, then the others. The year 7s looked at me and stared but I simply told the truth. Then I noticed that the kids were talking to each from across the room and/or talking to the others from another table. I thought it would alright but I soon realized that they weren't doing their work, even with the kids who sat next to their buddy didn't do their work. So I went up to them and said Do your work. You are allowed to talk and chat with your buddy but you have to do your work at the same time. The two buddies there said okay and continued working. One kid was having trouble lining up the builds and windows and I showed him a trick or two of an easier way of doing it. I knew this kid because me and him were on the same bus at one point but then I got moved to another.

I think that the kids like that another student from a different year, who liked art, is helping them as I give them appraise. I said to then your artwork is really good for kids in your year.

When it was time to clean up I told them to clean up and put the triangles away but they didn't until I called out like a military general and bellowed out Put your triangles away! Clean your table! Push in your seat and then line up at the door! I caught some kids out the door and I said to ms Indah there are kids out the door. So we got them back in and I said It's not time to go so line up now. I knew that at the primary the teachers would say to the kids line up and so I knew they were still in that zone of we are still primary kids. So after the class of the year 7s I was tired and I was surprised that they didn't do what they were asked to or what they were told to do. I was not every impressed with them. then again they just started art assignments.  I think it's good for senior students to help with the juniors and freshman kids.

Thank you,
Ms Jeanie for letting me help out with the year 7s

English - The Help Questions

I like the character Minny because she is spiky and not afraid to say anything as she is a smart mouth at times. I would say me and Minny have similar character traits. We like to help others even though it may be risky and get into trouble, and out going, a loud mouth and a big talker.

CAS activity - Yr.10 Media II

I helped with the year 10 media yesterday, on the last two lessons, where they have a double class. The students asked if I was going to be a teacher assistant, I said I am going to be a helper for ms talisa and since their class is so big and I know most of them I would like to help. I noticed right a ways that they don't pay attention, of what ms Talisa was saying. Even through out year 11 we did it too but we knew better and didn't disrespect the teachers, when they asked us once, to put something a way we did it, because they wanted us to understand of what the task will be.

I went behind some of the students and kicked their chair, not to loud or too hard but enough to make them look up. I stared and them and pointed at their phones, wanting them to put their electronics away. I was annoyed that this group of year 10s just don't care what ms telisa has to say about the task, because later on they didn't know what to do and I had to help them. I don't know why year 10's don't have TOK and learn the studies of organization and responsibility of how they act and behave. I was so glad spending so much time at Kemang, that at the secondary it was a piece of cake, since at the primary the kids are more hyper and a little difficult to control. I knew how to handle the year 10s even so they were a year younger then I am, its like handling the primary kids but at least year 10 know that they can get detentions if they don't do their work.

So I went around and helped out the kids looking for magazine covers for their next project, that I remember from last year. With the girls picking a cover was more difficult because the photos they were thinking of doing were not appropriate for this assignment, as the photos exposed the girls skin to much or that the clothes are to short or to showy of certain areas or position that the covers where posed. The girls didn't understand why, with the clothing, they couldn't understand. I noticed that they were not taught or noticed that they live in a country that they do not expose a lot of skin or dress in shorts.I think the girls need to be reminded upon this for their safety and well beinging.

With the boys they were easier since that magazines showed that they were in dress suites or some causal. Though I caught some looking at...Playboy covers and I told them to get rid of them. I was not pleased with one in pictuarl, but I am not going to name names because of privacy and to save face. I am not that kind of person who tells everyone of what one did. I just wait at the end of class and give the teachers feed back.

I like helping out the students and I gave them feedback and suggestions of what they can do and told them some magazine names of teen magazines which are fun. I also told them that they can do their covers in their own language, also since their is one girl who has a headscarf (I don't know her religion) and I didn't want her to lose face and go against her religion beacuse of a school project.

Thank you,
Ms telisa for letting help out the year 10s

CAS Leadership - Mural II

Last Friday, when we had homeroom ms sam said that we were going to paint again to touch up the bands of color because they didn't look as nice. So during break I went around school and got more supplies and asked ms jeanie if we can have some of the newspaper because we were still painting to finish the touches-up. Ms Jeanie let me take the newspaper and she said to me how is it going with the mural? and I looked back at her and said Well, we only did the background and nothing else still, because Ms Sam is putting it off. I just told her of what is going on, I also told her don't bother looking at it yet because we haven't done any design on it yet only the background. Then I said to her that I will let her know when it will be finished.

Before homeroom; I got everything ready as I got the paints, brushes, chairs and newspapers. Expect when HR began everyone was working on CAS reflections, I wasn't to happy about that but I let that slide because Ms claire threw us a curve-ball when she said that a fill-out worksheet was due at 3'oclock, that day. So everyone was rushing to finish it, expect me because I had free lesson later on that day.

I began painting the edges I noticed that we had a limited amounts of certain colors, the green and purple. At least the bands of those colors weren't as thick as the others. Perla and Sherab helped out with me and I gave the blue and yellow paint because they were the bigger bands of color. I didn't want to waste the green and purple, it's not because I don't trust them, unlike the boys, the fact is that we didn't know if there was any other cans and we didn't want to paint them over and get it in the wrong color. After a while Perla and Sherab didn't want to do anymore and I said that's fine because they helped out enough.
Though as we started doing the edges of the bands it was getting harder and harder to reach the top so we used chairs too try and reach. I got 5 chairs and stacked them as I jumped up on them and started to paint. Everyone, the students (only), called out, 'It's to dangous', 'The bottom chair isn't stable', Your going to fall', 'Keep on painting', 'Your going to fall'. I just got annoyed and yelled back I have been in worst cases then this, this is nothing compare the other stunts I have done.

Ms Sam asked the others to help out but they ignored her and kept working on CAS. I didn't care if they helped or not I just wanted to get this done. I called to ms Sam Don't bother I can do this by myself, I just want to get this shit done and over with. I know I used bad language but I was fed-up with everyone and I just wanted to finish it and move on to the design. So ms Sam left me to do it, and I was glad, so that I can get some control of the painting. I was so proud of myself that I finished and it looked great, but then the others said I missed a spot at the very top, were the ceiling and wall met. So I stacked more chairs and I got 7 or 8 on top of another and climbed up and painted. I could tell everyone was staring at me because they were like woah, how can she do that? does she do this all the time? how can she balance on all of those chairs? Truth is I like doing things like that to challenge myself and I liked it mostly because its fun and I can show off.

When ms sam said that it looked good, I was happy but when she said that she wanted to put the other-half of year 11's name up with our other-half of the year 11s, I wasn't so happy. I said if they want their names up their, they are going to help out because my half of the year 11s aren't going to do all the work and then just add the other-half of the year. It's not fair that we do all the work and they get credited.

So today I went to ms claire and talked to her about when we can switch homerooms so that her class can have a chance to do something too for the mural since we have one period that both homerooms of year 11 have at the same time, on day 5 period 4. I don't care if we do have to wait a week I am not going to allow my half of year 11 do all the work and just add Ms Claire's homeroom to the mural. THAT'S NOT FAIR!!! I don not to be rude or hasity but the truth is I am not taking that kind of tolerance, from anyone. Yeah, so what if the other half of the year wants to put their names on the mural too. They have to work for it if they want their names on it.

CAS activity - Yr.10 Media I

I have so many free classes, now even though the mr Manuel and mr Paul said "even though you have no classes at that time doesn't mean you can do anything you want". I knew that even before I started the new school year as my father talked to me about using my time wisely. And I knew if I had gotten my work done even before its due I could have free time and work on my other assignments.

I started to train myself to do that and tried it out the last months of school, last year. So I have gotten a great habits of using my time wisely and asked when the teachers are free so I can ask for help. And since, then I have been ahead in media and in art, though with math I can do what I can. Though with business and art I always ask for more help and understand of what they want in the task and to make sure that I did it correctly. So that's when I ask them if their free in certain periods, of the same that I am free.

So I asked ms talisa if she needed help with any of her classes since I noticed that year 10 was a big class and eve though there were assistances but they were helping with the students who needed special help. And ms talisa said really? That would be great, if you could and I said, that's fine I am free during that time since I don't do English A. So I went for the first time, 2 days ago, and I have to say it was an interesting experience since I was dealing with students who were only one year younger. I was so surprised that many of the students ask me for help as I gave them some pointers to make their logos look better. I caught students skyping with kids who are not from our school and caught some on facebook as others were looking at something inappropriate. With the kids I caught they didn't do their task, to make worst they didn't even start planning and it is due later in the week. So I told them, If you don't finish or started you will be able to caught up with the rest of the class. They all stared at me as they probably thought I was kidding.

though with the students who did all the work and finished, didn't show ms Talisa and I told them; that if they finished and showed their teacher that they maybe able to have free time. so all the students more or less showed ms talisa that they were done. I helped out with some of the students with their mac-computers, though I have no experience with the apple-computers. So I told them to play around with the settings and told them that word is much simpler even though it may not be able to get all the advance tools like in Photoshop but with the use of imagination, they can do anything with the use of less tools exposed to them.

I told ms talisa of what some of the kids did o their computer and which ones I caught and suggested at they sold be moved closer too her, as a way to keep a closer eye on them. I had to say it was fun doing that as the kids somewhat took notice that I knew a thing or two and tat the fact I did it last year. I was glade that I volunteered to help out since ms talisa's class of year 10s filled the whole classroom and there was just her, not counting the assistances because they were assigned to help the students of special need. So I commanded to myself and to ms talisa that when I have frees I will go and help out with year 10 media class as it is overwhelming for her. I also can report of what is going on when the teacher isn't there physically or not. Since all the students are like, oh she won't tell on us since we're all students, regardless of what they think I will report what I see as I want the year 10s to do their work and not goof around.

thx ms talisa,
for letting me help you with year 10 media group

CAS - Kemang Campus Day II

On Friday I went to Kemang Campus. It was as fun as always there, with the kids and ms Janie and ms Ratih. Going to the primary is so much fun to think that I can help with the kids and can maybe inspire them.

At Pejaten there is non-uniform day and we had to wear animal prints or costume...well anything related to animals really because they are raising money for an orangutan, name Dennis, that was saved from being eaten or worst. I decided to wear a fire tiger shirt and knee-length blue jeans instead of a skirt. My friends (year 12) and I discussed what we were going to wear the other day and we thought that most of the girls will come to school with skirts on and cat ears on, like on those anime shows. So I decided to wear a what I picked and not go for anime.

Well, as usually on Fridays there is always an assembly in the morning that starts around 8:15 and lasts for an hour (or more if there is a special event). Class doesn't start until after break (around 10 am). So I decided to take the opportunity to eat my breakfast/lunch because by the time I leave Kemang; their lunch starts, and get to Pejaten; their lunch ends. I also wanted to get some energy when the kids come.I brought Japaneses food with me chicken teriyaki from Sushi Boy (across from Pondok Indah Mall at Ranch Market).

Ms Janie told me that they are doing artwork for Harmony Day the following Friday- in 2 weeks- is when I am back at Kemang. And she told me to wear orange as it is the symbol of Harmony they celebrate in Australia. I was so glade that Ms Janie told me because I want to be involve of what the Kemang school is doing. Unlike the first day I went to Kemang; no one from Pejaten had contacted Kemang to ask if anything special was going on there, with the uniform dresscode. This was when chinese new years just ended last week and at Kemang they all wore red or chinese based outfits. As I came in a Mexican skirt...it was embarrassing because I have chinese outfits that I could have wore.
On Friday ms Janie told me that we were going to make "love hearts" with Foundation. They loved it and let's just say there was a lot of paint and a lot of confusion. Ms Janie told the kids to draw hearts and paint them different colors and then do certim patterns inside them. All the kids were lost as I ran around trying to help them and stay by one stundent who needed special help. I tried to stand by near the student but the others asked for help so I thought he is doing fine at the moment so I went to help. It was fine with the class but some of the students were staring at the boy who needed special help, and I didn't think that was nice to stare at them when they yelled for some reason or acted up. So I told the others to mind their own business and watch what ms Janie of what she was teaching. The kids had fun as they painted their hearts.

Later we had P4 class, with the smallest bunch of kids with ms Janelle's daughter. I was pleased that I get to teach some of the teachers', from high school, children. I can tell which kids belong to which teacher, it's kinda funny because they just acted like their parents, and I mean that in a good way. Like, last year when I taught year 4 with ms jill's twin daughters and (one of) mr harry's son. I could tell right a ways with ms jill's twin girls that they were happy and laughed a lot and that they like to help others. As with mr Harry's son, he looked like a mini version of his father, and he talked in more complex words then the other students; just like mr harry. With ms Janelle's daughter, I recognized her from the soccer games I use to do, she is very sweet and very determined person, who wants to keep painting the roof pink and nothing else.

I asked ms Janie if I could take photos of the kids and post them on my blog and she said that's fine but I have blur their faces. I just wanted to make sure that if it was okay to take photos of them.

With the P4's we got them draw a house as they traced around one kid, who was laying on the floor. so each kid took a turn and traced around him and drew a house. And then ms Janie gave me the task of me directing with the paints so then each kid can have a turn, when she sent them to me on the other side of the room. I was happy that ms Janie gave me this opportunity and a chance to prove myself that responsible enough. It was fun for the kids and that ms Janelle's daughter was not going to move no matter what as she wanted to stay and pant the roof pink.

I am so glad that I am able to stay at Kemang and help out ms Janie and ms ratih.

THANK YOU,
AGAIN FOR THIS GREAT EXPERICNCE!!!!
